Australia New Zealand Animal & Veterinary Physiotherapy Association

 

ANZAVPA represents qualified board registered physiotherapists in Australia and New Zealand, who hold additional post graduate qualifications in Animal and Veterinary Physiotherapy.

Our members share a passion for lifelong continued professional development, striving to set the standard for best practice, in the pursuit of clinical excellence in Animal and Veterinary Physiotherapy in Australia and New Zealand.

 

Our Mission

Our mission is to:

  • promote and facilitate advanced education for our members, to support their continued professional development, both academically and practically.

  • facilitate and encourage members to communicate, collaborate and contribute to both self-development and inter-professional growth.

  • promote the profession of animal and veterinary physiotherapy.

  • build and nurture strong relationships, co-operation and collaboration with veterinarians, veterinary bodies and higher education institutions.

  • provide reliable information for both members and the public regarding this unique clinical area of physiotherapy.

  • increase awareness amongst the public regarding the profession of physiotherapy and how qualified physiotherapists can assist in achieving optimal health, well being, performance and quality of life for the animals in their care.

REPRESENTATION


Inclusion on the ANZAVPA register with listing on the ANZAVPA website ‘find a physio’ listing.

Promotion to local and regional Veterinary Clinics via the membership register, which is sent to veterinary clinics on an annual basis.

Representation at relevant veterinary events by ANZAVPA volunteers.

Membership Requirements & Expectations

  • Full and current board registration as an Australian or New Zealand physiotherapist 

  • Hold a current annual practicing certificate

  • Hold postgraduate qualifications in veterinary / animal physiotherapy (PG Dip or MSc level)

  • Hold professional and public liability indemnity insurance which covers animal / veterinary physiotherapy

  • Commitment to completion of annual C.P.D. (minimum 20 hours per annum)

  • Commitment to active participation in regular ANZAVPA C.P.D. events

History

Established in 2021, ANZAVPA is a collaborative effort between qualified, registered physiotherapists with post-graduate degrees in Veterinary Physiotherapy.

The association was founded and driven by a shared desire to improve clinical knowledge and develop expertise within the profession of animal and veterinary physiotherapy.
